The innovative Wave shower trolley provides the perfect level of support

Safety, support, and comfort are vital, but we must also anticipate changing conditions over time

Those with disability and health related conditions often require healthcare equipment to support everyday tasks. It is crucial that when using the equipment, the user is safe, supported, and comfortable. However, what also needs to be considered is how the user’s conditions can change over time.

Wealden Rehab was faced with just this challenge when we visited a user to review their RAZ shower chair. During the visit, it quickly became apparent that the user was no longer getting the support they needed from the shower chair, making it unsafe to use. This was due to changes in the user’s condition - the user has fixed kyphosis and scoliosis, as well as contractures of the trunk, spine, and neck. The equipment needed to fit around the user’s body shape and support their postural limitations.

Meeting the user’s changing needs

After careful consideration, the equipment selected to better support the user, whilst ensuring safety and comfort, was a shower trolley. Wealden Rehab offer a wide range of shower trolleys, from paediatric through to bariatric, and each one offers an array of features and benefits to suit a range of user conditions.

Finding the perfect solution

Our popular Barella shower trolley is renowned in the healthcare industry and was designed to offer stability, comfort, and convenience. It has a host of features and options and has been tried and tested in even the most demanding environments. This shower trolley is a superb product offering and ticked a lot of boxes, however, our new profiling shower trolley, the Wave, would give the user even more support, which the user desperately needed.

Our Wave shower trolley

Relatively new to our family of products is the innovative Wave shower trolley. The Wave can be used like a traditional shower trolley, providing a comfortable and familiar bathing experience, but also goes above and beyond by offering profiling capabilities. Its fully electric profiling platform is operated using a hand set which allows a carer to optimise the user’s position at a simple touch of a button. The height can also be adjusted with ease and the platform allows for a tilt both in Trendelenburg and anti-Trendelenburg directions.

Key features of the Wave Shower Trolley include:

  • Unique four section profiling platform
  • Height adjustable from 510mm to 910mm
  • Extendable platform
  • Electric tilt and profiling
  • Central braking system
  • 150mm castors making it easy to manoeuvre
  • 250kg safe working load

Incredible results from day one

With the Wave shower trolley, we were able to successfully position the user, so they were comfortable and well supported. We raised the backrest to accommodate the curvature of the spine and raised the leg rest to stop the user from sliding or rolling to the side. To support the carer, the Wave can be easily wheeled into the bedroom for transfers and back to the bathroom for showering. The user now enjoys this everyday task and feels safe, comfortable, and most importantly supported.
