Wokingham Special School invests in GoLift ceiling hoists

This 200-student special school has a robust equipment-replacement programme and has invested in GoLift ceiling hoists in class and hygiene rooms

Equipping their facilities for the future, this special school has traditionally had ceiling track hoists in straight line configurations, and then only in hygiene rooms.

In a move to protect staff and students, the handling advisor and OTA recommended upgrading to XY systems. Wealden Rehab was instructed to install a 7 x 5m XY system within this first-floor classbase during the 2020 summer holidays in preparation for the students return.

The classroom had a dual-level ceiling with some of the concrete soffit exposed in the centre of the room. The margin of the room has a lay-in grid ceiling at a lower level. The XY system is installed to the whole classroom with a gate and transition track to a smaller alcove within the room.

The track system was installed with droprods and lateral bracing to allow the system to run beneath the entire class space.

The track system is installed with a GoLift 400 lifting unit, with inrail charging across the classroom.
